Broadcasts

A broadcast sends one promotional template to a list of numbers you upload. Use it for an offer, a seasonal announcement, a reminder to a customer list.

You need an approved promotional template, an approved sender ID, a verified DLT chain, and enough money in your wallet.

A promotional SMS cannot be recalled

There is no undo. The panel deliberately makes you look at the recipient count and the cost before anything is sent. Read that screen.

Step by step

  1. Open Broadcasts and name it

Only you see the name. It is how you find this campaign again next month.

  2. Choose the template

Only promotional templates appear here. Transactional and service templates answer something the customer did, and sending a campaign on one can get your DLT registration suspended.

  3. Build the CSV

The panel shows the exact columns your chosen template needs, with each variable numbered to the column that fills it.

  4. Upload and check

Nothing is sent yet. You get the number of valid recipients, every line that was skipped and why, the cost, and your balance.

  5. Send

The button says how many it will send to. After that it runs on our side; you can close the browser.

The CSV

Column 1 is always the mobile number. Each further column fills one {#var#} in the template, in order.

For Hi {#var#}, get {#var#} off until {#var#}.:

csv
number,name,discount,until
9876543210,Rahul,20%,31 Dec
9123456789,Priya,25%,31 Dec

A first line of column titles is fine. We detect it and skip it.

A template with no variables needs one column: the numbers.

What gets skipped

A line is skipped, and listed back to you with its line number, when:

  • the number is not an Indian mobile
  • the same number already appeared earlier in the file
  • a value is blank, which would leave a gap in the approved wording and be rejected at the operator
  • there are fewer values on the line than the template needs

Everything else sends. Fix the listed lines and upload again if you want them too.

What it costs

The screen quotes the cost at one part per message. A message over 160 characters, or one containing Hindi or an emoji or a ₹ sign, is more than one part and costs proportionally more. See Parts.

You are charged per message as it goes out, not all at once up front.

If your wallet runs out

Sending stops. The broadcast is marked stopped and tells you so. Messages already sent were sent; the rest were not.

Add funds and start a new broadcast for the remainder.

Stopping one

The Stop button works while it is running. It takes a few seconds. Messages already handed to the operator have gone and are still charged.

How fast it sends

A few messages a second. Ten thousand recipients takes roughly an hour. This is deliberate: arriving at the operator as one enormous burst is how a sender gets throttled.

Seeing what happened

The list shows sent, failed and the amount charged, live. Failures are listed with the reason. Every individual message is in Messages as well, with its own delivery status.
